Details

Title of the project: Synthesis of novel scaffolds as selective ligands for the alpha+/beta- interface of the GABAA receptor

Research topic of the student: Scaffold hopping is a very desirable strategy in medicinal chemistry in order to obtain further compounds with an already known biological activity, which consist of modifying the central core structure of the lead molecule. In this project, the central core of the pyrazoloquinolinone scaffold with be modified so as to obtain further alternative compounds which will keep the same modulatory activity  and selectivity at the a+/b- interface of the GABAreceptor.

Lab Rotation (3+ weeks): Host: Margot Ernst , Dept. of Molecular Neurosciences, Medical University of Vienna.

Subject: Evaluation of pyrazologquinolinone derivatives in GABAA receptors using voltage clamp electrophysiology in Xenopus laevis oocytes; 2017.
