Congratulations to our newest PhDs!

Moltag students Barbara Fuezi/UniVie and Julia Michalska/ISTA both defended their PhD thesis!

Barbara Fuezi, Pharmacoinformatics Research Group, supervised by Gerhard Ecker recently defended her PhD thesis with the best possible grades. The aim of Barbara's doctoral project is to find possible target proteins and biological processes for explaining and modeling hepato- and neurotoxic events triggered by pharmaceutically relevant compounds. The possible results can be used as a basis for understanding drug-induced toxicity of the liver and the nervous system. After deeper investigation and analysis, the findings are going to be used as a base for in silico toxicity modeling.

Also Julia Michalska/ISTA group of Johann Danzl defended her PhD thesis excellently!  In her projects she developed a Comprehensive Analysis of nervous Tissues across Scales (CATS) with the goal to create a toolbox to visualize and analyze brain organization from millimeter regional scale down to single synapse level.CATS has great potential for the study of neuronal connectivity with light microscopy, as shown by characterizing the local input field, as well as the synaptic output field of neurons across brain regions.

We congratulate both colleagues to the successful finalization of their projects and wish them all the best for their further career steps!
